    2012-2013 NCAA Basketball Season

How we don't already have a thread for this is amazing to me. Might as well start it, and here's to Dez Wells getting his waiver.

Jim Calhoun set to retire tomorrow. UConn, not that they were going to be great this season anyways, just plummeted, and this will actually be a really interesting coaching search if they make it an outside search and not just hire from within. There was a debate as to whether UConn was actually a good job, or if the entire brand was Calhoun.

Time will tell if UConn is a good job or was just Calhoun.

a former Uconn player will get the job..maybe Kevin Ollie who I think is on the coaching staff.

People might miss Calhoun for the winning around here but Geno is way more beloved...

I think Uconn has built a reputation of success to the point where it is a good job but to be honest, even at Calhoun's peak, it was never the best job. It may take a hit with his retiring but its not become Depaul. The school has money and its committed to winning and it's really the only team/school in the state that matters so for all involved Uconn has to be somewhat relevant in sports..

I'm probably only gonna half watch Uconn this year anyway with the postseason ban and then watch march madness.

Ollie is indeed at the very least the interim coach. The question is if he stays past this year.

I guess it depends on the season but they don't have much to play for so playing for him might be enough of a boost.

I probably won't get to contribute much to the sports threads(busy life with the baby and work) but I'm glad to see that you guys are getting ready for the college hoops season.

It will be weird not seeing Calhoun on the sidelines but sometimes ya gotta move on to the next phase in life. The Johnnies have a Lavin-UCLA tie in on their staff to replace Mike Dunlap(who is now the Bobcats head coach). Darrick Martin is an asst for the St.John's Red Storm. The loss of Mo Harkless will hurt, but I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the newcomers look.

You really expect them to pick Maryland?
