It was Basil's. What's funny, Carleton students I work with now don't like it. I made a reference once on how Angelica and I drove from Apple Valley when she was pregnant 'cause she was wanting some Basil's gyro pizza, and you always get the pregnant woman what she wants. Well the students were like, Basil's? Really? It's not that good! I was like WTF? Then they talk about their love for the new Pizza Hut. Carleton students are corporate consumers and then they talk how they want to keep corporate culture off their campus. Oh well. But Northfield is not hurting for local pizza shops, Basil's, Bill's, B&L's and George's is a new one.

I'd gladly eat there over Pizza Hut. You did describe my Thursday ritual, just minus the beer (don't drink, didn't then either - made it odd to room with Jay as a senior) - pizza and coke and SmackDown. Dudes in the dorm room next door started to get into it sometimes even when I was a FY student. That was in Mohn though, not shitty Mellby where we got in trouble for being loud over Madden (you, me, and Dre).

Yeah, I didn't drink either until I was a senior. Well I drank sometimes, but not just to watch Smackdown. But Senior year I roomed with Adam Buenz, and dude always had something to drink. But he never watched wrestling until I was watching Smackdown and he saw "The Doctor of Thuganomics" John Cena. He could not stop laughing at him and each week he watched to see him get beat up, until he actually started to cheer him... lol. Before that I roomed with the older Latino Jonathan and we never drank, but we always had the Domino's Pizza and soda. Old times man.

As for Papa John's dude... ain't paying it, if you raised the prices a dollar I'd understand. But to take it out on your workers when your man doesn't win, as my dad would say, "that's chicken shit."

Yes they are. All of those national chains are complete garbage. Although I will say if I'm desperate I will get Pizza Hut and love every minute of it, despite it being garbage.

My favorite "chain" joints are Jets and Hungry Howies neither of which are in Springfield.

Jets is awesome. There's one by my brothers house in Florida.

I worked at Papa Johns for 3 years while in college. It's shit. I worked at Pizza hut for 6 months. It makes Papa Johns look golden. Yeah, that bad.
