They have Catching prospects, hell they drafted one pretty high last year.

I don't mind trading Dickey. He's going on 38 and being a knuckleballer, we can't exactly predict what he'll do even if he does break the mold a bit.. I don't however think they'll get much back for those very reasons.

Well, Atlanta has lost a valuable member of their team in David Ross, who signed with the Boston Red Sox.

This is an example of where teams like Boston, NY, Philadelphia, etc. benefit. Atlanta paid Ross $3.25 million over the past two seasons. He's currently 36 years old (will turn 37 during the season) and Boston gave him a two-year contract for $6.25 million. Boston can afford to throw away money on an aging back-up catcher.

Don't get me wrong, he was extremely valuable to Atlanta, but not worth that type of money at that age. This especially hurts since Brian McCann won't be ready for the first month of the season and Christian Bethancourt still isn't ready to come up. I'm really not a fan of the available options on the market either.

5:31pm: One source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter link) that Johnson, Buehrle, Reyes, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio are all going to Toronto. Right-hander Henderson Alvarez and left-hander Justin Nicolino will be among those going to Miami, Rosenthal tweets.

5:15pm: The Blue Jays are on the verge of acquiring Josh Johnson from the Marlins, a source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Toronto will also land Mark Buehrle in the trade, sources tell Ken Rosenthal (Twitter link) and Morosi. The Marlins will receive Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria in return, Rosenthal tweets.

One source tells Morosi that Jose Reyes may also be headed to Toronto in the trade (Twitter link). That part of the deal is not yet confirmed but there will be more pieces outside of Johnson, Buehrle, Escobar, and Hechavarria in the swap, Rosenthal tweets.

If Reyes/Burhele gets traded to Toronto, the Marlins shot their chance of ever signing a huge free agent without a no trade clause, Reyes and Burhele had good seasons for the Marlins. this move could make the Jays competitive in the East which should be fun this upcoming season.

i think this is a good deal for toronto, but it's also a salary dump, but i'm thinking most jays fans right now don't give a shit. I heard it on the radio on my way home and now it's on tsn, this is a done deal

I like this deal for Toronto, it fills a lot of the little things for them. They get Burhele who's a workhorse and has experience in the AL, if they get Reyes they get some great infield defense and speed in their lineup. I don't like the Josh Johnson addition , I get the Marlins have lots of young pitchers from their midseason trades but Johnson's the veteran on their staff and he'd provide the anchor to the rotation. I also don't see him fitting in Toronto's staff.

Pity the Jays got their pitchers, their was rumor of the Mets trading a pitcher for Arencibia and while a 1 for 1 deal wouldn't have work, it looks like any chance of a deal is shot with their infusion of starting pitching.
