Guess you're a Seahawks guy then... And I am just now remembering our conversation in the basketball thread, and that makes more sense.

So, Seahawks season. Thoughts so far?

Good take on the Raiders, bit shocked that they have got to this point themselves. KC collapse has a lot to do with it though, and we did cover that at some point.

Russell Wilson's amazing. Him and Bobby Wagner be holding it down this year. Wagner should win Defensive player of the year, and you can just hand the MVP to Wilson right now.

This team has no business being 8-4.

It's funny because after the first couple of weeks, the games they've lost have been very tight. It's not like they've been well beaten for some time now, and yet they're still flying a little bit under the radar.

Fun thing about the Vikings is that you look at their schedule, and there's not a lot of stiff opposition left. Not completely inconceivable that they could end up 14-2.

Rams and Eagles is definitely an interesting one to look out for.

I'm optimistic about the rest of the Vikings schedule as well. We have a good history against Carolina, and the final three games are all winnable. The X Factor with Green Bay is whether or not Rodgers is back. If I'm Green Bay, and it looks like I'm going to miss the Playoffs I don't risk Rodgers getting any further injuries. I'm surprised he's back already as it is.

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself with the Vikes, but it's been fun as hell so far.

Not Brady for doing what he's doing at 40 years old?

I want to know why Case Keenum isn't even in the discussion

Because his numbers are mediocre? Game manager numbers.

If I were going for a QB it'd probably be Brees for having almost as many passing yards in a weaker overall offence.

No defensive players in anyone's mind? Would Demarcus Lawrence or Kevin Byard be getting more attention if their team's had better overall records?

Let's look at Tom Brady vs. Russell Wilson vs. Case Keenum

Keenum- 9-2, 68% Completion Rate, 2703 Yards, 7.5 Yards Per Attempt, 16 TDs, 5 INTS (One Less Game)
Brady- 10-2, 68.5% Completion Rate, 3632 Yards, 8 Yards Per Attempt, 26 TDs, 4 INTS
Wilson- 8-4, 62.4% Completion Rate, 3256 Yards, 7.4 Yards Per Attempt, 26 TDs, 8 INTS

With one less game, I'd say with those stats he should at least be in the conversation. Maybe not winning it, but his numbers are much better than "game manager". You could argue Wilson has additional rushing yards as well, but Keenum can keep plays alive with his feet as well. Brady can't do that for sure. Sure Brady is doing what Brady does, but much like the argument for all of them, the Vikings wouldn't be where they are without Keenum playing lights out football. Last week he went 13-13 in the second half for 120+ yards and a touchdown. The dude is playing MVP-like football and has numbers to back it up. He's much more than a game manager.

That got me looking at QB rushing yards, and Wilson (and Newton) have better numbers than some RBs. Not surprising they are such weapons.

For what it's worth, Keenum has half as many as Wilson, but still five times as many as Brady....

It's between Brady and Wilson as far as I'm concerned. Heart says it's Brady's to lose. Head says I can't split them. Wilson has contributed over 80% of their total yards all year. And pretty sure he's been involved in all TD's this year bar one. But what Brady is doing, let alone how old he is, is just being Brady. Which is like people saying it's LeBron being LeBron. Doesn't get the credit they deserve. Granted Brady has got that this year. I'll be surprised if it's anyone other than them. And I expect it to be Brady. The Steelers game might be the one that decides it next week. Brady is not only the best QB of all time but he's the best pocket QB of all time. He doesn't need to run, plus unlike Wilson he has a ridiculous amount of good RB's to hand of to.

  13. #93
There's a reason Brady doesn't run very often. He runs like a baby elephant.

I mean, I always come back to how much you have to factor in the playing with better players, in a better more established system, when it comes to Brady.

If Wilson keeps doing what he's doing, with all the injuries to the defense and they overtake the Rams for the divison (Rams should have beat them the first game ) Then I think Wilson has to win the MVP. I always look at it like where would a team be without someone. Heard a stat today where Wilson's passes outside the pocket is 40 more than anyone else. He has like no offensive line, a defense that's held together by duct tape. He's the MVP

Not saying Brady isn't great but he hasn't elevated any more than he usually does. Wilson has had to carry the Seahawks on his back this season.

Brees last week showed how much the Saints need Alvin Kamara. Vikings have a damn good defense so Keenum is out. It really is down to Brady and Wilson.

Saw an article about why it shouldn't all be doom and gloom there, but it wasn't convincing honestly. Basically came down to home advantage and the run game, which will only go so far.

What was the deal with the last play of the first half in NO vs Atlanta? Looked up, the official was making an announcement, then the coach just lost his shit.

Season is over. You're not winning the Super Bowl without your starting QB. I like the Eagles. Their fans? Not at all. And I'm a fan of Carson so it sucks. Hate to see a genuine threat go down like that.

Their idiot centre didn't line up at the line of scrimmage. So it was an offensive penalty and no time is added back to the clock and it cost them the 3 points and potentially the game really.

  19. #99
So it is confirmed that Carson Wentz tore his ACL and is out for the season. That just sucks to be honest, and I'm a Vikings fan. It actually makes things kind of easier for my team, but I'd want to earn it by going through Wentz's Eagles. Tough break in Philly.

Does change the equation for the Vikings though. You are now probably more in danger from one of the Wildcards hitting form at the right time than you are from the Eagles in a crunch NFC championship game.

I guess as they're going to come up against a backup it's going to improve the playoff chances for the Cowboys and the Raiders, even if it is only just a little bit.

As a Cowboys fan, they have little chance of making it regardless. Need to win remaining games, Hope the Rams beat the Seahawks out for divison and hope Packers lose, and the Falcons lose division and 7 games.

Not all of that is likely to happen.

Brady literally throwing away his MVP case here. Think this is the loss we needed to have though.

Maybe. It could be that it's what you need to cut out the complacency.

But then, could also just have advertised your weaknesses just before the most high-profile run of games. Seen plenty of people say if Jay Cutler can do that to the secondary, Roethlisberger can pick them off at will.

I guess there's no way of knowing until the playoffs come around now, is there?

There's no clear cut best team imo, everyone can be had, and people just put their faith in the Pats because they expect Brady to pull it out in the end. But if that was always the case, they would have won even more super bowls. Eagles i think were playing the best but now they lost Wentz... Saints without Kamara is a different team. Def feels like the team the most healthy will win out.

Jokingly said to someone on Twitter when Britt was released by the Browns the other day that we could do with another receiver. Didn't actually think we'd sign him.

The British pundits seem to think the Eagles just aren't out of it yet. Said the team are better set up to lose their QB than Oakland were, and if you have to have someone come in, Nick Foles is not a bad option. They did a better job of convincing me that there is any reason for hope than any of the articles I read.

Catching up on the highlights it occurred to me that though I've never really liked them, the current instance of the Steelers, they play some nice looking stuff. A bit harder to dislike, this team.

Detroit and Chicago not exactly setting the world alight. Bears in particular seem to have trouble moving the chain.

Is he hedging on that? I mean it's probably just being diplomatic but he seems to be avoiding confirming anything.

Carolina Panthers up for sale at the end of the season.

In what I guess you have to think of as an early present, the Vikings shut out Green Bay. Wow. They'll remember that one for years.

Typical Eagles, go to the playoffs without the quarterback and a crap record of converting on third down. Be lucky to win even one more game

Congratulations, dude. You've been waiting for long enough. I'm so stoked to see the Bills going at last. I knew deep down in my heart that the Ravens would screw it up somehow.

Been a noteable season in more ways than one, and it's fitting that it finished with the Bills streak ending.

Also Browns making the wrong kind of history.

The Ravens aren't a team anyone is going to feel sorry for....

A part of me wonders if the Falcons aren't just coming back into form at the right time.

I don't see it. I mean they have the talent but The Panthers are overrated and Falcons haven't hit the groove yet with sloppy play almost every week. They go in and beat the Rams, then I think we can say they're back.

    Super Bowl Prediction:

    Saints over Pats

I would have loved to see a healthy Eagles team. To give Brady problems you need a four-man rush and Eagles have a pretty good one.

And that’s fine. Bills fans know the deal and don’t expect to go further than the divisional round. Once Brady the GOAT retires the Patsies will return to the depths of the League and all will be fine.
