Thread: The Movie Poster Challenge

  1. #41
OH number 3 is the Leauge of Extraordinary Gentlemen

  2. #42
That leaves only #1. Damn, these were WAAAAAYYYYY too easy

Doesn't matter who gets #1 as Powder has 5 correct, so he'll be up next. But let's clear the board shall we?

  3. #43
Any chance we can get an idea what number 1 is? It'll bother me if not, unless you plan to reuse it.

Well shit. A motherfucker sleeps a little late and had a busy morning upon waking, and I walk into a completed challenge. Damn.

I'm not understanding why folks are saying they can't make these. It's super easy. I can throw down a tutorial if needed. These challenges will get lame if it's the same people doing them over and over. Besides, a win as good as this one deserves a reward.

    #4 isn't an 80s movie.

I'm going to pull back on this one so we can get more diversity for more than 2 rounds in a row. But I'm pretty sure I know almost all of these. I'm positive I know at least 7 of them.

I think I know 5, but might be wrong on a couple.

    1 The Terminator
4 The Silence of the Lambs
    5 The Karate Kid
6 Raiders of the lost Ark
    7 Back to the Future

Ooh, one wrong. Could still lose this one!

I don’t recognize any of this except a few that were already guessed. I suck at 80s movies though.

Oh yeah, a couple more have come to me today. The one I stupidly thought was Karate Kid is Goonies. 2) is Gremlins and 8) is Flash Gordon.

Not a scooby on the last two though.

Well done. Looks like you are up?

And do you want the answers or should I let it go some more? #3 is a cult classic, and #9 you will kick yourself....hard.

3 is Big Trouble In Little China.

    And that's all I've got.

  18. #58
3 is big problems in little china

    Edit:
Damn it’d help if I even spelled it right let alone guessed faster.

    9 empire strikes back

    Edit
Fun fact I looked at a new hope’s poster for like half an hour yesterday knowing it was Vader but didn’t see any connection so I gave up. I’m dumb is the moral of this story.

    Empire Strikes Back, dammit!

EDIT: Curses, can't type quickly enough. I did what Tim did in reverse, went straight to Jedi.

Fixed. And blaspheme for not getting the title correct.

  21. #61
Hey I caught it afterwards. I’m not TOO dumb.

Sorry for that weird double post/editing nightmare. Mobile phone/operator error.

That actually made me realise I'd never seen The Empire Strikes Back poster, which is very weird.

I'm going to stick with the theme of that last answer, and here is a grid of sci-fi posters for you to decode.

    1) Tron (TimR)
    2) District 9 (Powder)
    3) The Day The Earth Stood Still (Powder)
    4) Silent Running (TimR)
    5) Species (Powder)
    6) Soylent Green (Powder)
    7)
    8) Escape from New York (Powder)
    9) Logan's Run (TimR)

6 has got to be Soilent Green.

And 7 is a Star Trek...don't know which one, but that definitely is the Enterprise.

And 5 is that one of the Species variant posters? If not, it looks too much like Species

    Species gives you the win.

Star Trek isn't good enough for the point though, so there's still three up there if people want to keep guessing.

  30. #70
    9 is Logan's Run I think

4 is Silent Running.... I won't lie, I had to browse sci fi posters until I found it after scrolling forever.

Generally image searching is considered cheating, but I'll let you have it as that one's basically dead anyway. If anyone wants to have a go at 7) on mine, it's still there. We're just off on the next one so quickly didn't have the chance to finish it off!

Hmm... I'm going to follow the other guys lead on this one. I reckon I know five but rather than just end it and doing another image right away I'll let someone else have a crack at it.

Yeah, I got that - I figure you wouldn't have said it if there was any other reason. But, y'know, I thought it was worth making the point, not specifically to you but just for anyone coming to the thread. Make sure we're all on the same page, is all I was thinking.

  38. #78
Yeah, true. I should've kept it to myself. Knee jerk reaction.

It'd probably be a good idea to let the previous challenge finish completely before jumping right into the next one as this moves forward. It gets confusing otherwise.
