1 - JRR Tolkien, yeah I have a LOTR tattoo on me so it is safe to say that I love me some Tolkein.
    2 - Cormac McCarthy
    3 - Douglas Adams

Lets stay in the book sphere, favourite autobiographies/biographies:
1 - Steve Waugh, Out of My Comfort Zone
2 - Anthony Keidis, Scar Tissue
3 - Slaying the Badger, Richard Moore (technically about 2 cyclists but great none the less)

There's a thread for biographies in the reading forum, you should give us some thoughts on them. I've read a few bits on cricket so I'd be interested in hearing about Waugh's, though I imagine Kiedis's would have more international appeal.

I've read more autobiographies than biographies, for pleasure at least.

Stephen Fry, Moab is my Washpot
Mick Foley, Have a Nice Day
David Crosby & Carl Gottlieb, Long Time Gone

HM's to Miranda Carter's Three Emporers, about the Kaiser, Czar and King George in the run-up to WW1, Ian Mortimer's The Perfect King about Edward III, and Alison Weir's Eleanor of Aquitane. I got into a kick for reading medieval biographies for a while there and those were probably the best two I came across, along with the more conteporary one which is just fascinating to see how intertwined everything was before WW1.

You are supposed to post three, and a topic to continue the thread. C'mon, man.

Right, to start us again. Top three individual games/matches in sports.

Easily my top one is Federer vs Nadal at Wimbledon 2008. The two best ever, at the peak of their powers, playing tennis at a level never seen before and that was just the hype. The match ended up being better than the hype. It's the only tennis match I have gone back and watched again and again.

I will throw in a wrestling match in: Angle vs HBK at Wrestlemania 23. My personal favourite WWE match ever, told a great story, went the right length, had the high spots without too many finisher kick outs. Perfection.

Liverpool vs AC MIlan in Champions League Final 2005. Best football final I've ever seen (and thank god I was a neutral), although Liverpool did try and top it again one year later in the FA Cup. To come down from 3-0 at half time against a Milan team with Pirlo, Shevchenko, Maldini, Costa, Crespo... was inspiring.

Staying in the sports theme: Only teams allowed (so not Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, etc), top 3 biggest falls from grace.

    Ooh, tough one.

Glasgow Rangers, River Plate and probably Leeds. Football seems to be the one sport that is set up for massive decline.

    Top three periods in history.

Obviously it depends on what aspects you consider, whether it is society, equality, art, etc.

We are probably living in the best period right now, all things considered, so that's number one.

The renaissance period I think would be two.

Maybe the industrial period is three?

I just meant personally, really. Like, what interests or appeals to you most. As it's personal lists and all.

Underrated is tricky. I might have to think about that one for a while.

Well, I can quickly reel off the 80s, Pirate times in the 1700s and perhaps the 50s.

I have found this one difficult so will just go with the last three people I have thought are underrated.

Ben Mendelsohn, Alison Brie and Avery Brooks.

Top three... Oh I don't know... How about painters, anyone into art?

Not well versed in historical art, but if we include modern techniques:

    SkechArt
    Porfirio Jimenez
    Markus Fussell

All spray artists, all on Youtube and all make awesome pieces in minutes.

Top 3 dishes you like to cook.

I forgot all about this thread. Hmmm...

I like to cook a lot of different things. I make this hot chicken stew, where you get thighs, tomatoes, some veg and a load of hot sauce and cook it slowly enough that the meat all starts to fall off the bone. That's pretty sweet.

I make a lot of hot food generally, to be honest, so making a curry from scratch is very rewarding if you have the time to do it. Tastes better for it, too.

Maybe Carbonara for third? I've found a good way to make it for vegetarians too if you need to do that.

Top three TV shows you've got into in the last couple of years.
