    The List

Kind of a random thing, here, but one that could be fun. It's inspired by a post I saw on Facebook that not only inspired a lot of posts but also a lot of conversation to go along with it.

It's pretty simple, similar in concept to the Pick One game going on in the Music Forum. I'll ask for a Top 3 something. Any topic is up for naming, given that this is The Hub. Music, movies, Presidents, Prime Ministers, video games, board games, cars, the list goes on and on and on. The following poster gives their Top 3 of that given item or whatever and then throws out a Top 3 topic of their own. The following poster names their Top 3 of that topic, so forth and so on in perpetuity.

You can of course name your personal Top 3 of the subject you bring up if you wish, but it's not a requirement. Again, similar in concept to the Pick One thing. The difference with this one is that topics can be repeated, granted that there's sufficient time between the last time it was brought up. I'd say once per page would suffice.

    To kick things off...

Who are your Top 3 favorite actors/actresses?

My personal list (at least right now off the top of my head) is...

    1) Bruce Willis
    2) Al Pacino
    3) Danielle Harris

I'll jump in. It is really hard to really narrow it down but if I had to pick I'd go with:
    1. Tom Hanks
    2. Al Paccino
    3. Viggo Mortensen

Strong runners up to Russel Crowe, Ian McKellen & Cate Blanchette

    Top 3 favourite movies
    1. Lord of the Rings (Just like Tolkien considers them all one 'book' I will always group them together)
    2. The Matrix
    3. Apocalypse Now (4hr Redux Version - I like long movies when they are good)

Survivor Series Biggest Winners and Losers

Must have been posting at the same time.

OK... movies. Kind of instinctive because they change a lot for me.

    Godfather Part II
    Full Metal Jacket
Mr Smith goes to Washington (yeah, I like old stuff)

I'll use my category from above:-

What are your three favourite sports teams?

Kind of all over the board, but:

    1. The Indian cricket team
    2. FC Barcelona (Soccer)
    3. LA Lakers (Basketball)

    Next:

    Top 3 books

    Mine are:

    1. The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
    2. Have a Nice Day - Mick Foley
    3. A Lion's Tale - Chris Jericho

(I tend to read a lot of genres, but these books are the ones that have stayed with me, beyond those that'd be considered "classics")

Subho, my friend, you need to come and hang out in sports a bit more. We haven't had an Indian perspective in the cricket thread for a couple of years now (lord knows it could be with going beyond my English limits), and I've been looking for a few people with more knowledge to try and teach me a bit about basketball. And Barca... well, who doesn't love a bit of Barca/Madrid discussion?

Books eh? Just glanced over to my shelf so these will be instinctive again, but

Tim O'Brien, The Things They Carried
Jonathan Safran Foer, Everything is Illuminated
    E.M. Forster, Howard's End

Last one is bit more of a classic but it is what it is.

What are your top three meals/dinner choices?

    1) Cheeseburger
    2) Steak (medium rare, preferably a NY Strip)
    3) Burrito (pretty basic one, really, with just meat, cheese and maybe refried beans)

What are your three favorite national flags?

    Mine are:

    United Kingdom
    Australia
    Jamaica

All of them are just so cool looking. I like the American flag, too, but it's just so damn busy. I prefer the Texas flag, which is almost like a way more simplified, "clean" looking version.

That is so funny that you like the Aussie flag. I hate it and wish we could change it. It has the British flag in it and the colours that are unrelated to any of the colours of our nation which is a land of reds, browns, yellows and green. The only redeeming feature is the Southern Cross.

    For me it is:
UK (also their individual flags for England, Scotland, Wales and Nth Ireland are pretty good too)
    Brazil
    Japan

    Fav Video Games
    Mass Effect
    Knights of the Old Republic
    Cricket 96

Is that EA Cricket 96? I had the 1997 one that Richie Benaud did commentary for. Also had Brian Lara Cricket 96 for Mega Drive.

Knights of the Old Republic (snap)
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Super Monaco GP

Yes KOTOR for the win! Such a good game. It is EA Cricket 96, we had a really old computer that couldn't play '97 so I couldn't have the actual international teams. My imagination went crazy making a backstory for all the made up players they had. I also used to commentate it myself too.

    Favourite comedians are:
    1. Bill Burr
    2. Carl Baron
    3. Ross Noble

3 countries you dream of going to:
    Kenya - For the Serenghetti
New Zealand - For LOTR and the amazing South Island - it is really close and relatively cheap to go to and I've been to much further countries but for some reason never NZ.
Japan - I read an article about a guy who cycled around some Japanese cities over the course of a few weeks and it looked frankly amazing.

No, not forgetting. I've chosen not to, leave people with a blank slate when they come to theirs. Plus, it'll eventually come back around and I reckon if we stick at it we'll all end up answering everything eventually!

My favourite albums of all time will change on any given day to be honest.

    Today I might go for

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
    Abbey Road - The Beatles
    Live Rust - Neil Young

    Ooops, read the instructions Sam

    Damn good question

    1. Sailing - for some reason Australia is really good at it, must have been a generation inspired by the Americas Cup win back in the 80s.
    2. Female Basketball - once again Australia is good in it
    3. Any kind of running

I'm interested to hear more of those so I'm gona just repeat the question: Top 3 sports you'll watch at the Olympics that you don't follow the rest of the time?

The obvious one for a lot of people is Athletics but I quite like that. Don't follow it all the time but Worlds, Commonwealth, etc. all get my attention.

    So will go

    Swimming
    Cycling
    Judo

But to be honest there's a lot more, too.

I normally like British or Australian authors more than American ones but I'll go with:
George RR Martin - I have only ever read The Song of Ice and Fire books but that has got to be 3 pretty much perfect fantasy books followed by 2 pretty damn good ones. Love fantasy and loved these books just FINISH THE GODDAM SERIES!!!!
Sebastian Junger - A non-fiction writer but his books Tribe & War have given me so much knowledge and understanding of how humans act. They are really engaging too.
Allan Moore - I consider a graphic novelist a writer and by God if Watchmen isn't one of the best damn pieces of literature I don't know what is. Also has some other quality works too with V for Vendetta and Batman: The Killing Joke

I don't see why not. Wrestling in a general thread is fine, just no wrestling specific threads would be my interpretation.

Forgetting critical acclaim and going with sentimental favourites...

Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper, Wrestlemania VIII
Owen Hart vs Davey Boy Smith, European title tournament final
Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair, Wrestle War '89

    Prodigy in Newcastle

There's a mix of music tastes...

Top three venues/attractions (i.e. NOT cities/countries) you haven't been to, but are at the top of your list. For example mine would be:

Twist & Shout - The Beatles (John Lennon shreds his vocals delivering one of my favourite vocal performances of all time)
Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan (not sure if it is a pop song but it was popular music in the 60s)
Friday on My Mind - The Easybeats (my Aussie pick but I still rekon it holds up as a pretty damn good pop/rock song)

I'm glad someone else took that one. I had a look at the names in the fray for Bond and couldn't really imagine any of them as Dr Who, so I was pretty stumped.

As for fictional characters you'd have a drink with.... I mean, could I not just say Alan Shore and Denny Crane? Scotch on the balcony sounds pretty good to me.

In terms of top three computer games.... I mean if you mean the biggest, I've never played a Call of Duty, never played a Zelda game, and I've never played a Need for Speed, so right there you've got three massive franchises to choose from. Though the only one I'm worried about is Zelda, so if you wanted top three that I actually wanna play, that'd change the answer.

Top three ambitions you have yet to complete.

Video games.... Mario Odyssey, Fractured But Whole and Battlefront II.

Ambitions is a tough one! I'd have to go with going to WrestleMania; finishing my first novel; and getting a book on a shelf in a bookshop with my name on the spine!

Figured it would be beating Prime in another tourney

Schindler's List is by far and away my favourite film of all time, so that's a clear top pick. But outside of that it's really hard to pick the other two. I'm going to pick two films I doubt many would have in their top 3 in Catch Me If You Can and The Land Before Time. Such a kid, but I could watch The Land Before Time whenever I see it on.

Let's stick with the directors. Top 3 Scorsese films?
