That's a cool album name. Never even heard of it, though. I should probably check out Girlschool.

    Here we go.

    1) Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson (Prime Time)
    2) S&M by Metallica (Prime Time)
    3) (What's the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis (Team Farrell)
    4) Get A Grip by Aerosmith
    5) Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf (The Dude)
    6) RAMONES by The Ramones (Team Farrell)
    7) Bad by Michael Jackson (Gooner)
    8) Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? by The Cranberries (Gooner)
    9) Boston by Boston (Prime Time)

Not completely sure on this one as they aren't a band I know all that well, but 9) is making me think of Boston, by... well, by Boston.

    Hints!

#1 wouldn't have had nearly the impact if it had been released by Charles Monroe.
#4 produced some of the most iconic and cinematic music videos of the early to mid 90s.
#8 is somewhat timely for an unfortunate reason.

Great clue on 1). Still don't see it clearly but my guess is antichrist superstar.

#4 had 6 hit singles in the US, 4 of which made an impact on the UK charts, as well. Not bad for a bunch of middle aged dudes.
Though the band is perhaps most famous for a later song that has a tendency to get in your head, #8 produced two sizable hit songs along the way towards reaching #18 in the US and #1 on the UK charts.

Aha! 8 would then be Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?

Which I believe is their debut album if I am not mistaken.

You are correct, on all counts. They had released a couple of EPs prior, but Everybody Else was their full length debut, as well as their major label debut. Great fucking record. Dreams is one of those era defining songs for me.

Alright, last clue before I just call it and give it to Prime.

#4 had multiple music videos featuring Cher. Not the same one who did a duet with Butt-Head.

    Nope.

I'm calling it. It's Get A Grip by Aerosmith. Had a bunch of hit singles, including Cryin', Amazing, Crazy and Livin On The Edge, many of which featured Alicia Silverstone in the videos. Great album.

    Prime Time wins.

OK, I've tried to reach for some different artists here. No idea how successfully, and hopefully it won't mean I've put it outside what people know.

    1) The Rolling Stones, Let it Bleed (Shinobi)
    2) Supergrass, I Should Coco (Shinobi)
    3) Bruno Mars, Doo Wops and Hooligans (Gooner)
    4) Public Enemy, It takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back (Steve)
    5) Iron Maiden, The Number of the Beast (Steve)
    6) Glen Campbell, Rhinestone Cowboy (Steve)
    7) AC/DC, Thunderstruck (single) (Steve)
    8) The Eagles, Hotel California (TripleR)
    9)

5 is Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden
6 is Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell. I used to play that record daily when I worked on classic country radio.

I recognize a couple others but it'll take a bit more thought.

That's four down so far and no one has taken a big lead as yet.

There's at least one more up there that I would say is really iconic.

I know the artists for both 1 and 9, but the album titles are escaping me, if I ever knew them. I've definitely seen the album covers before, though. 1, especially, is an album title that I know I should know. 9 is one that I recognize for the same reason I got Rhinestone Cowboy.

Aside from that, I'm mostly drawing a blank. A couple look vaguely familiar, but not enough to wager even the faintest of guesses.

Going to take the silence as assent that clues are needed, and since there's not been a guess since Wednesday.

    So, clues.

    1) You're Papa might have loved this iconic album, but your doctor probably thinks its bad advice.
    2) Probably an easier one for the British posters - especially if you're an informant that has been caught by the fuzz.
    4) Not the most obvious corner of the cover, but taken from one of the most iconic rap albums of all time. So iconic that even I've heard of it.
    7) So I fucked up and had a moment of madness - just realised this is actually the art from a 1990 single, not an album. That might see it fall into place for someone. It's probably more famous than the art for the album the song is taken off, which may be why I confused myself.
    9) I'd follow Steve's logic about his radio station. That's a kicker you can take to the bank.

Another two days without a guess, so we'll do a few more clues. And a bit less cryptic.

    1) Think 1960s. Very famous album. And as for the title, if you don't put a bandage or plaster on something then you....
    2) Should someone have got this? I would say so. In fact, that's almost the title. If the album has never been pumping on your stereo, then I guess that's alright.
    4) The most famous single on this rap album from 1988 encouraged you to question the promotion.
    7) This single by a very famous rock band has a title that's impossible, and is a synonym for being dumbfounded. It's also, as they say in that part of the world, bonzer.
    9) An album by one of the most famous country songwriters in history, that features some songs by one of the most famous folk singers in history. As for the title, there's more than one way to be on the right track.

Is #4 It'll Take A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back by Public Enemy? I think that was the name of the album with Fight the Power.

I think #7 might be Thunderstruck from AC/DC's The Razor's Edge album.

Yes - big lead for Steve-O after those two now.

    Both right, Joe.

That leaves one. I'm going to give it a little while extra before I give the answer away, because I can't imagine Steve wants to make another image at this point in time....

OK then. It's been a week and no one else has even mentioned it, so I'll wrap it up now. 9) is Johnny Cash, Orange Blossom Special.

I'm now wondering if anyone can work out my cryptic clues.

I know that Cash album name but there's no way I'd have been able to identify the cover without cheating.

    Here we go again!

    1) Mechanical Animals by Marilyn Manson (TripleR)
    2) Down On The Upside by Soundgarden
    3) Off The Deep End by "Weird Al" Yankovic (Prime Time)
    4) British Steel by Judas Priest (TripleR)
    5) Prolonging The Magic by CAKE (TripleR)
    6) Countdown to Extinction by Megadeth (TripleR)
    7) Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty (TripleR)
    8) Willenium by Will Smith
    9) Hangin' Tough by New Kids On The Block (TripleR)

  38. #358
    1 is Annie Lennox- Medusa?
    3 is Nirvana-Nevermind
4 is Judas Priest- British Steel
6 is Megadeth- Countdown to Extinction
7 is Tom Petty- Full Moon Fever

British Steel, Countdown to Extinction and Full Moon Fever are correct.

I made the Megadeth one too easy to identify, I fear. I felt sad that nobody has known my previous Megadeth ones, though.

  40. #360
Then 3 has to be Weird Al Smells Like Nirvana
