    Noah/tna

Impact Wrestling and Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH have entered a working relationship and we are closing in to their first date in the company

“Great Voyage 2017” event March 12th in Yokohama, Japan.

    The TNA matches are

    James Storm vs. Kaito Kiyomiya

Kaito Kiyomiya is a young talent who has come along nicely in the last year. I hope James Storm is playing the Hansen Cowboy and not the Terry Funk Cowboy in Japan.

Moose and KAZMA SAKAMOTO vs. Naomichi Marufuji and Keiji Mutoh

Yeah. This is exactly what it looks like. Naomichi Marufuji, NOAH legend, tagging with The Great Muta against Moose and the guy who played Tensai's youngboy in the WWE. KAZMA SAKAMOTO had some pretty OK matches in the past. He is an old K-DOJO alum who is now working under Muta. He doesnt suck but he shouldnt be in this spot. Then again, neither should Moose.

    Eddie Edwards vs. Atsushi Kotoge

This is a match I will be seeking out.

Atsushi Kotoge used to be one of the better Jr. wrestlers in Japan. I was skeptical of his transition to heavyweight but some of his recent matches have made me a believer. Check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2ENJTtCR80

It will be interesting to see how NOAH books these new talents after some of their more questionable decisions of late. (Check out the turn of Kenoh on my favorite NOAH wrestler Masa Kitamiya)

NOAH is in trouble guys. NOAH's relationship with NJPW burned out it's fans. It took guys who werent with the promotion and the booker (also from NJPW) got over the talent from outside of NOAH. The homegrown NOAH guys never got the rub they needed. It alienated most of the NOAH faithful, their raitings crashed, their attendance slacked. WHen Suzuki-Gun left, most of the fans NOAH had left went with them.

This is the opposite of what All Japan did last year (using outside talent to give the rub to their young star)

NOAH is trying to do what AJPW did. They have begun a rebrand. NOAH was bought by IT company called Estbee. They closed their offices and their dojo. They entered into working agreements with TNA and Mutoh's Wrestle-1. Their last 3 Korakuen Hall shows drew less than 700 people. Their most recent Korakuen Hall show only drew 625 people.

Wrestle-1 seems to be on it's last legs through and will probably end up becoming Mutoh's Tenryu Project (not a bad thing). But that may mean more talent for NOAH. The shows have been quite good but the problem is that they cannot draw. Maybe Eddie Edwards and Mutoh will be one of the secrets which attracts fans back to NOAH.

Yeah, so is TNA after that dumpster fire of an episode last week, and the legal issues with the Hardys over the Broken gimmick. Anthem's reboot of the brand could possibly hurt NOAH (or TNA's relationship with them) more than anything you mentioned.

Do you have results from the show? Did you get to see any of the matches and have any thoughts of them?

The Results exist but I havent looked at them. I will probably post the matches after they get out of Japan. NOAH shows are on a tape delay. It was live on the site but Great Voyage Yoakahama will air on TV in japan on the 19th/20th.

The show drew though. 2,500 people in Yokohama. Their last show in Yokohama drew like 300 people and their last show with Suzuki-Gun drew like 2,000. Mutoh is a draw. The strategy looks like it worked.

Also in NOAH news (and maybe good for TNA) Cody Hall, Scott Hall's son has jumped from New Japan to Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Really? Wasn't he a bullet club member? Why would he do that? If I were him, I'd wait until the noise from the Anthem change over died down before agreeing to appear on TNA TV- otherwise he'll just either be part of a ONO or a throwaway 10-man x-division match.

It's good to hear that the show drew, though.
