Mike mondo (Mikey from the spirit squad) Took Davey Richards to a time limit draw last night in WV... little over a Week til Best in the world and you have the former champ drawing with a WWE reject jobber?
ROH is turning sad... Steen is like the only reason I care right now.. oh and Elgin.

The decisions RoH was been making lately have left me completely flabbergasted.
I can't stand Kevin Kelly. I'd almost rather have The Hodge back in the booth.

Well, I watched RoH on TV the other day, and watched the Briscoes destroy some jobber team. Watching the Briscoes vs some jobbers is more exciting than 99% of the tag matches I've watched on WWE televison recently.

Best in the World 2012 is tonight.. I will be watching it somewhere else but that's because I don't trust RoH only reason I'm gonna watch it is to see if the issues are fixed with the help they're bringing in. The show itself doesn't intrest me that much but it could be good.

Hope Cole beats O'Riely's ass. I can't stand that motherfucker.
Hope Steen breaks Richard's neck.
And hopefully their production values are better.

Just checked rules again, deleted my link.. anyway, was an okay show. People were making a too big of a deal over ROH screwing up the IPPV by letting people who didn't order border wars watch for free.. Yeah it was a mistake but those people who watched wern't going to pay for it anyway. Plus, after watching the stream, maybe some who chose not to because of previous stream issues, may decide to buy the next show. I'm leaning that way.
on another note, Steen's end promo was pointless.

Lazyking, who were the Guardians of Truth?
Ok forget that, I found results and see they were masked. But I have another question. According to the write up at the end Steen said F-U not to RoH but F-U to Ring of Honor. Is that how it went down? And if so, do you think this means a name change like ECW when through? If not officially at least in story line by Steen.

No, it's not a name change. that's what the promotion is called... He said basically that he's gonna kill ring of honor and fuck New york..which got cheered lol

No, I know RoH stands for Ring Of Honor. I just meant the way he said it was like he was not dissing RoH but Ring of Honor. So I thought maybe he wanted RoH to be known as something new. But it is good to know that even New Yorkers hate New York lol

Finlay vs Elgin was good, you get some shock value when Mondo says he's gonna fuck Maria, and the Main Event was Steentastic but overall the show isn't anything to turn a cartwheel over.
Ciampa is a fucking star in the making, but that god damn blonde beard is a terrible look for him.

Color me intrigued. Obviously, their stay wouldn't be a long one, but I enjoyed the Headbangers during their WWE run. In ROH, and especially against the Briscoes, they could regain a groundswell of support if they can work more than the WWE-style.

I knew he'd be special when I saw him wrestling in Ohio Valley Wrestling. We use to get it on syndicated televisions since Louisville is only a hop and a skip away.

Agreed he is good. Even if it took awhile to get use to his name but now I like it. As far as the beard, that is the trend these days. Well usually its is streaks in the hair but beard is close enough. It is just a way to stick out a bit. Gone are the days of the gimmick, thank goodness, but as guys start to seem similar they need something to stick out in their look. I would think as they get bigger and people know them for them, they will lose their blonde streaks.

I watched the show last night. Well everything but the tag title match. I don't really give a shit about either team.
Truth pulling off the black masks of the GoT only to have another black mask underneath was awesome.
Jesus did Cole's face blow up. Amazing. I'm glad Cole won, I can't stand O'Reily.
Finlay and Elgin was alright.
The PSA was a waste of time, Well, except staring at Maria the whole time and trying to see when the fan grabbed her ass.
The TV Title 3-way was a decent affair.
Kyle O'Reily coming out to declare he was leaving Richards was stupid and a waste of time. Corino on commentary was gold. Not a bad match between Richards and Steen, but also nothing to be excited about. Steen's post-match rambling was dumb.

I thought if it weren't for Ciampa, Lethal, and Strong that Finlay vs Elgin would have been the match of the night.

basically same thoughts I had. They had no tech issues except for everyone getting the show free but since I know several diehards who felt so bad that they were getting the show for free cause of border wars that they bought the show anyway, I don't think it matters. Hell, maybe the free show will get people to order the next one.
I still need to watch the start, I came in at Cole's teeth on the canvas.. that was sick.
You didn't miss much with the tag match. Very southern, face in peril style match that fell apart at the end... They did two FiP's and the finish was stupid.
Corino was why I enjoyed Steen and Richards. I love Steen but the match was just a brutal spotfest that fell flat to me..Sometimes that works and other times you think, "does it really matter?" Yes Steen's promo was dumb because New york no sold it lol.

It helps if you love sports of some kind, because ROH treats Wrestling like a sport for the most part.
I do love sport and that's one of things I have really loved about it so far. I guess it's the getting into the story lines and getting acquainted with the characters that is going to take me some time.

How was he playing them? He got offered something else when he wasn't under contract. You are a fool if you wouldn't try and better your standing, especially when you have nothing holding you to stay in once place.
Fuck outta here. ROH been dicking people over for the past 3 years. Its about time they got fucked over for their stupid choices.
He knew what he was doing and in no way was he playing them. He told them he was working the show. That was more then good enough on his part. He didn't have to tell them anything if he didn't want to.
Lazyking
07-06-2012, 02:07 PM
I mean playing them in the sense that he shook hands, agreed to a deal and ROH even says was hemming and hawing over the contract. Kenny can do what he wants but if I had a guy who needs to take a few days to sign a contract, I'm not putting the belt on him. ROH should have realized that he wanted to explore other options and that's on them.
Edit: I didn't mean to sound like I was coming down on King but he obviously wasn't committed to ROH and they were stupid enough to take his word.

He means that ROH put wrestlers on contract, effectively not allowing them to wrestle for Gabe Saplosky's companies or anything else that's on TV. it really was a dumb move considering these wrestlers are making peanuts for ROH and should be able to go out and wrestle for whoever.
What are Gabe Saplosky's companies? Sorry I am new to all of this. Just been watching roh here locally for a couple of months.
Lazyking
07-06-2012, 02:30 PM
Gabe was the former booker of ROH. He left in late 2008, began working for DGUSA and Evolve and around that time ROH made contracts for their wrestlers. Davey Richards was working for Gabe then bailed on him to sign with ROH.
The contracts are stupid imo because independent wrestlers should be able to work on any show they want. They're not making WWE or hell even TNA money.
Kenny King didn't sign an actual contract and basically just told ROH to fuck themselves and worked TNA last night.
KiLL CoLD
07-06-2012, 02:43 PM
Being that he wasn't under contract he didn't tell them to go fuck themselves. If he had worked without having the courtesy to tell them then maybe you can make that argument. If ROH really gave a fuck they would be aware of when their workers contracts are up. You don't wait until someones contract is up if you plan on keeping them. He made a decision to work for a company. It didn't have to be the end of their relationship. ROH chose to end it. If I'm not under contract I'm not obligated to do anything.
My problem with ROH is that fact that they hired people and then sent a bunch of them home and used the bullshit excuse that they had nothing for them at the time and they would be reintroduced later.
Guys like Austin Aries who is now one of the hottest workers in the business was told that they had nothing for him and that he would have to sit at home and wait to be brought back. Right after he dropped the ROH world title. He is the only ROH two time champion mind you. Aries was with them forever and when they had no use for him they treated him like a piece of Garbage.
Brent Albright, Pierce, Stevens, Necro Butcher and a few others were told the same thing. Everyone knows they were sent packing because they were projects of Gabes and nothing else more. ROH has shit on so many guys over the past few years its ridiculous. They are getting what they deserve. Karma is a bitch.
Awesome thanks for the information Lazyking I appreciate it. The more I learn about roh the easier it is for me to follow and know whats going on.

That episode was filmed nearly a month ago, right at the end of June, and I think SDR only signed in the last couple of weeks? I imagine if she's about for that episode, she'll likely turn up again in the next 2/3 weeks, but then she'll be done and not show up again. Spoils the angle a bit for ROH if she can't show up after this run of tapings has finished showing.

Looks like Del Rey is committed to ROH beyond the currently taped shows, as she's booked for Boiling Point as well, mixed tag of her and Eddie Edwards vs Maria and Bennett. I assume this is her finishing up her dates before going to WWE, that is if she is actually going to WWE, as I've also read (I think on the main page) that nothing was confirmed, and she wasn't even sure what her role would be if she does come in.

He got into a fight with two fans at the end of their show tonight. Punched both, and apparently knocked them out. If it's legit, there HAS to be two lawsuits coming RoH's way, on top of them probably having no choice but to immediately fire their World Champion. If it's a work, what fucking purpose is it serving, and it's only going to end up pissing more people off.
Omega
08-12-2012, 03:45 PM
Not only did he assault the fans he also apparently kissed one of them, so there is a sexual harassment lawsuit as well.
If Ring of Honor goes out of business, that's going to put a decent sized dent in Indy wrestling. There are tons of other feds out there, but none of them have television deals. Between Steen assaulting fans and Richards assaulting bookers of other promotions this is turning into a real mess at RoH.
KiLL CoLD
08-12-2012, 04:09 PM
No it isn't. Davey don't work there anymore apparently and I'd bet money the Steen thing is a work. They decided to push him further as a heel after he won the title instead of turning him face when they should. Crowd loves him. Punching fans is probably one of the few things they could do to force people to boo him.
ROH closing wont hurt anything. Nobody watches their suck product as is so I don't see how them closing will hurt others.
Resistance Pro has a TV deal.
CHIKARA does well with their IPPVS and they only do two or three a year.
Indy wrestling is fine.

When Haas made the deal with Titus it seemed obvious that they would win the tournament leading to a match between them to decide who owns the belts. But now that Jacobs and Corino said they will win the tourney or leave RoH I am not so sure. I am pretty sure the two teams will meet in the finals. And if Jacobs/Corino do lose they could go back on their word. But if they do leave I would love if they, especially Jacobs, went to TNA. And if there is any truth to the above or if Steen is looking to leave he can bring his empire of evil to TNA. I just need to see if I can work it out to get to Chicago for Death Before Dishonor because it should be awesome. Especially with an attitude infused Lethal.

Hardy's interaction came with the TV title match. He was on commentary for the entire match. Post match, Hardy puts over the match and fans boo. He believes in the Code of Honor and he shakes Mondo’s hand. He shakes Cole’s hand and says that many people over the last three months have compared Cole to a young Matt Hardy. He says he was better than Cole when he was his age, and he’s better than him now. So, Hardy leaning heel for an inevitable match vs. Cole.

Just got back from the TV tapings, pretty awesome set this time around, obviously revolving around the Survival of the Fittest. Real brief results.
-Jay Lethal won the Survival of the Fittest. The other finalists were Adam Cole, Michael Elgin, Roderick Strong, Mike Mondo and Davey Richards. Came down to Lethal vs Richards. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen in wrestling happened during the match where Elgin was suplexed from the apron onto one of those standard plastic folding tables. Obviously it didn't break, but it had a huge dent in it.
-Won't go through all the other matches, but the highlights: Briscoes beat Bravados. After the match, the Guardians of Truth came out, said that Truth had neglected them as the rest of the HOT was collapsing, so they were going to take control again and do things their way....and that's the Headbangers way. They then demasked, and yes, the Headbangers are back as a tag team. They wrestled a match for the website after revealing themselves.
-CNC won by DQ over Jacobs/Corino. CNC dominated most of the match, had some pretty awesome spots, and then Corino hit...Cedric I believe...with a roll of quarters for the DQ. Corino/Jacobs started beating the crap out of CNC, and Elgin out to make the save. Earlier there was a confrontation between SCUM and Elgin, who has a title shot in October.
-Rhett Titus came out and challenged Haas/Benjamin to a match. They accepted, thinking it was a handicap match, and BJ Whitmer came out to team with Rhett. They won by DQ.
Rest of the matches were SOTF qualifiers. Best matches of those were Elgin vs Rhyno and Mondo vs Kyle O'Reilly.

Meh, I mean, realistically, who else was going to win it? Lethal probably didn't need the boost, but when your other viable options are Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Rhyno, they probably made the right choice.

It can't just be me that thought Steen/Elgin wasn't all that an a bag of potato chips, surely? To be honest, I didn't even think it was 'good', let alone 'OMG, MOTY' or similar. It was an average match, very little in the way of momentum throughout, and some bits of it were downright stupid. I like watching two men beat the shit out of each other as much as anybody who loves Misawa/Kawada matches, but this wasn't good at all.
A shame, because I thought a lot of the rest of the PPV was very good, but that main event has left a sour taste in my mouth. The post match stuff with the mask was good, though.

I've been to most of the Baltimore tapings, but won't be going this weekend because of work. First off, just basic things Baltimore-specific, get there really early if you have General Admission seats. The doors open at 6, I'd be there no later than 6 if not slightly early, because the line starts early. Also, if you get there after 6, parking is really hard to find. As it is, you're probably going to have to find street parking around the arena. Anyways, setup-wise, if you're expecting anything like the WWE, you're going to be in for a bit of a shock. The ring is set up on the far side of the indoor soccer pitch, and it's surrounded by folding chairs and then bleachers, which is where the GA tickets are. I recommend seats on either side of the ring, and not behind it. Behind it is a bit farther from the ring, though you're on the camera side. There will be 4 one-hour tapings. The one really annoying thing is that when they have backstage segments, instead of putting them in post-production, they put it in live, and since there are no monitors or screens, you just sit there in silence and wait for them to continue. There will be an intermission at one point, either after the second taping or the third. You'll definitely see a lot of the wrestlers wrestle multiple times, and in multiple segments. Let me know if there are any other questions you have.

Yea I hope so. I do not want him as a face. But it is possible they are doing with him what might be a new trend. Same thing I see with Bully Ray and that is more of a tweener or an honorable heel. Like from his recent speech he is going from wanting to destroy RoH because of what it had become to wanting to embrace it now that it seems saved. I kind of picture him as the benevolent yet evil King. The kind of character in literature and movies where he is bad but does it in a conniving way so it is not obvious. As if he is trying to do what is good for everyone but really he is just about him and those close to him.

But the name is supposed to stand for Suffering, Chaos, Ugliness and Mayhem. It is possible that is what they are bringing to those they feel are bring ruin to RoH. Not to mention, while Kevin hangs with SCUM and uses them I am not sure if he has officially said he is a member. And like I said, it is not about being honorable for the sake of honor but a means to an end. I don't know maybe I am hoping for something to deep for a wrestling story line but one can hope lol

I see Kevin Steen as a man that stood alone in his protest, but it somehow created this mass awakening in others. Steen, now that his protest got him the change he wanted, turns around and see what he has become oblivious to this entire time. His single protest started a movement with members who are out for blood. These members want to kill ROH, period. Which is what Steen said he wanted to do, but is it what he wanted? Steen sacrificed his blood, sweat, and tears to become ROH Champion, and does the same to remain champion. So, has Steen realize that he is ROH. Killing ROH means killing himself. I think Steen was oblivious to growth of SCUM. I think Corino took the dream of Steen and masterminded along with Jacobs, a plan to make this dream reality. What we saw at ROH 11 Anniversary was Steen in complete shock. He didn't react to anything, he didn't react to the rise of SCUM, and the attacks from the ROH roster was ignored. He just stood there taking punches and kicks.
I see Corino, who is the mastermind behind SCUM, will give Steen an ultimatum to either be grateful and lead the movement he started, or die with ROH.

It's the idea that no publicity is bad publicity. You have Haas pretend to be drunk, make some awful comments about the company, then everyone is talking about it. Whether they're correct or not, well, we'll see. But if nothing else, it worked. The odds of a company allowing a wrestler to not only compete, but have a long promo before the match, while he is drunk is so slim.

Correct me if I am wrong, I do not follow RoH as much as the other two so I am sure someone knows for sure, but did not Shelton already leave the company? I thought that was the reason for the tag team breaking up. If so then this is just a way to get out of a match that was never going to happen. They had to make the match because it would make sense Shelton would want revenge against Charlie but he is not around to do it. As far as Charlie acting drunk, that is just part of his character over the last couple months. The whole rebel "Outlaw" bit. Having him break down to me means they might be going somewhere with it as far as a reason for his drinking and attitude.
